Emergency Drills Being Conducted Saturday at Light Rail
Newark service will be affected

The NJ Transit Police Department, together with state and local partners, will conduct a training exercise tomorrow, Saturday, April 27 at the Newark Light Rail NJPAC/Center Street Station to test a response from multiple agencies to a simulated light rail incident.
Also participating in the exercise will be the Newark Police Department, Newark Fire Department, Newark Office of Emergency Management, Essex County Sheriff’s Department, University Hospital EMS, NJ EMS Taskforce and the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force.
The exercise will begin at approximately 8 am and take about four hours to complete. During the exercise, Newark Light Rail service between Newark Penn and Newark Broad Street stations will operate on a single track, resulting in the following service adjustments:
All trains will arrive on the outbound track at NJPAC/Center Street, Atlantic Street and Riverfront Stadium stations for both inbound (to Newark Penn) and outbound (to Broad Street) service.
Service at Washington Park Station will be temporarily suspended for this drill and throughout the weekend for scheduled construction.
Customers should use Broad Street, Riverfront Stadium or Atlantic Street stations as an alternate.
Trains will operate on modified schedules approximately every 25 minutes.
