Excercise Classes for Cancer Patients, City Budget Meetings Continue and More

The week ahead in Newark

On Mondays and Wednedays, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center offers free exercise classes specially designed for female cancer patients. The classes, held at the Beth Fitness Center, is taught by a certified cancer exercise specialist and is designed to improve muscle mass, decrease body fat and improve strength, among other goals. The city government’s budget hearings continue this week with sessions to discuss the spending plans for the finance and economic and development departments on Aug. 20 at 5 and 6 pm, respectively. On Aug 21, also at 5 and 6 pm, the budgets for the mayor and the police department will also be discussed. All meetings take place at city hall, 920 Broad St. 

The New Jersey Performing Arts Center will be hosting A Salsa Celebration with Larry Harlow and the Latin Legends Band Aug. 23 beginning at 5 pm. The event is part of NJPAC’s ongoing free concert series.

The School Advisory Board will hold a business meeting Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 5:30 pm. The meeting will be held at central office, 2 Cedar St., 10th Floor, Room 1010.
