FedEx Cargo Plane Makes Emergency Landing In Newark After Bird Strike
Video of the landing showed flames shooting from one of the plane's engines shortly before the landing Saturday.
NEWARK, NJ — A FedEx cargo plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Newark Liberty International Airport on Saturday after striking a bird, officials said.
The incident happened shortly after 8 a.m. Saturday, according to an NBC10 report.
A FedEx spokesperson said that FedEx Flight 3609 bound for Indianapolis had just left Newark when it experienced a bird strike during takeoff.

"Our crew declared an emergency and returned safely to Newark. We are thankful for the quick actions of our crew and first responders," the spokesperson said in a statement to Patch.

Air traffic was briefly halted. The airport has since resumed normal operations.
No injuries were reported.
