Girl, 17, Shot and Killed Sunday Night

Three teenagers were shot last night as they stood outside a store, one fatally, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Police Department said in a statement.

Laniay Griffin, 17, of Brooklyn, died after being shot around 9:30 pm Sunday night. Another girl, 15, and a 16-year-old boy were also wounded in the shooting that took place in the 800 block of S. 14th Street, the prosecutor’s office said.
