Gospel Showcase Coming to Newark Symphony Hall

Event includes a vendor market

Newark Symphony Hall,  1030 Broad St., will host its third-annual When Praises Go Up Gospel Showcase on Sunday, Dec. 15 in the Sarah Vaughan Concert Hall at 4 pm, with an accompanying Vendor Marketplace beginning at 12 noon in the Terrace Ballroom.

This year’s host will be last year’s honoree Liz Black of 107.5 FM WBLS’ “Sunday Praise”. Black can also be heard daily on K107FM Jamz Toronto Canada.  Also hosting this year’s showcase is Dr. Albert J. Lewis, Jr., founder of the Newark-based World Gospel Musical Association.  

This year’s honoree is recording artist Donald Malloy. Malloy’s latest project “Finally Home” features the single “I Know What Prayer Can Do” and was recorded live in his hometown of Cheraw, South Carolina.  This project was produced by Stellar Award Winner Isaiah Thomas and Malloy is the executive producer.

When Praises Go Up Gospel Showcase is not a competition, but an afternoon showcasing and providing a platform for some of the best gospel artists in the Tri-state area.  Judges scored auditioning artists and have select the best in each category to perform in the showcase.   There is no charge to audition or to participate in the showcase.
