
The Ballantine Green Festival, a celebration of the Ferry Street in the Ironbound neighborhood and of sustainable lifestyles, is scheduled for Saturday, April 14 from noon to 4 pm. The event will be held in the parking lot between Oxford, Ferry and Freeman streets.
The festival will feature entertainers, artists, food, prizes, games for kids as well as an “Eco Village,” where attendees will be able to drop off old carpets, batteries and electronics for recycling. There will also be environmental demonstrations.
Participating organizations in the day’s festivities will include Greater Newark Conservancy, New Jersey Audubon Society, the City of Newark, the New Jersey Tree Foundation and Urban Renewal Corp. Sponsors include New Jersey Shares, The Star-Ledger, Verizon NJ, and the Ironbound Business Improvement District.
