Here’s Why Newark And ‘K-Pop’ Are Trending Online

NEWARK, NJ — Why were “Newark” and “K-Pop” recently trending online? It’s likely due to South Korean boy band sensation, Ateez, who will be coming to play a concert at the Prudential Center this week.

Ateez will visit the Prudential Center in Newark on Monday, Jan. 24 at 7:30 p.m. as part of their 2022 world tour. The group canceled part of its tour in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The show will take place in a city that currently has some of the state’s toughest COVID-19 rules. Newark currently has a mandatory vaccine policy for customers at many businesses, including concert venues such as the Prudential Center. The city also recently brought back its indoor face mask mandate for all public facilities.

Want to know what to expect when attending shows at the Prudential Center? As of Wednesday, here’s their coronavirus policy as seen on their website:

“All guests aged five and older entering the Prudential Center will be required to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19. Additionally, the city of Newark’s previous order requiring all guests to wear masks throughout events, unless actively eating or drinking, will remain in effect.”

Concertgoers looking for updates about COVID-19 requirements at the Prudential Center may be adding to an already active internet buzz about the show.
