
The Newark office of the Internal Revenue Service will expand later this week following the closure of the agency’s Jersey City facility, the IRS announced in a statement.
The Jersey City office will shut its doors this Friday, July 13 and its operations will be transferred to the Taxpayer Assistance Center at 20 Washington Place downtown. The Newark office will temporarily close during the consolidation of facilities and reopens July 16 at noon. Thereafter, taxpayers who need answers to quick questions, help with tax preparation or to pick up free forms and publications can visit the Newark office, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
