Killer in Christmas Eve Shooting Gets Life in Prison

Daughter witnessed victim's 2010 murder at Newark grocery store

The East Orange man who shot and killed a good samaritan on Christmas Eve nearly two and a half years ago was sentenced Monday to life in prison, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed in a statement.

“A life sentence is entirely appropriate given the outrageously horrendous nature of this offense,” said Assistant Prosecutor Kim Acocella who tried the case along with Assistant Prosecutor Harry Moskowitz.
