LAST CHANCE: Enroll for UMDNJ Summer Enrichment Program

May 31 deadline for students interested in medical professions, SAT prep

The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and New Jersey Medical School are offering a summer academic enrichment program for students in 6th through 12th grades at the Newark campus.

The Science Medicine and Related Topics (SMART) Program is for those interested in science and health careers. Youth interested in becoming nurses, doctors, dentists and scientists are strongly encouraged to apply.

The five week program will be held weekdays from 9 am to 3 pm, from July 2 to Aug. 3.   

 
While attending classes at New Jersey Medical School, participants will conduct laboratory experiments and attend field trips as well as college tours. In addition to engaging in community-service activities, a focal point of the program is S.A.T. Preparation for age appropriate students.
 
The deadline for mailing an application, along with a $25 non-refundable registration fee, is Thursday, May 31. Please send a check or money order made payable to NJMS SMART. No cash will be accepted. Applications should be mailed to: The SMART Program, UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School, 185 South Orange Avenue, Room B-624, Newark, NJ 07103.

Need-based funding is available to accepted students who qualify and who reside in Newark, East Orange, Orange and Irvington only. Otherwise, the program fee which is $900, should be submitted only after the student receives an acceptance letter from the SMART Program administration.
