Latin Fest In Newark Inspires Unity, Community Spirit (PHOTOS)
"The annual Latin Festival is one of Newark's most special and joyous events."
NEWARK, NJ — According to Mayor Ras Baraka, few local events capture the vibrance of Newark like the city’s Latin Festival. That was again the case last weekend when the annual celebration returned to the Brick City.
The 2025 Latin Festival took place on Sunday, drawing a large crowd of eager visitors and local residents. Performers this year included Milly Quezada, Miriam Cruz and Gisselle.
“Few events capture the vibrance of our city on such a large scale as the Latin Festival – and this year’s extravaganza promises to surpass them all,” Baraka said prior to the celebration’s kickoff.

“The annual Latin Festival is one of Newark’s most special and joyous events,” agreed Deputy Mayor Jacqueline Quiles-Mercado.
This year’s event was also an opportunity for city agencies to raise awareness for domestic violence prevention, with speakers sharing personal stories of transformation from the stage.
