Longtime Newark Museum Director to be Honored at Gala
Sweeney retiring after a nearly 40-year career

The public is invited to a fundraiser for the Newark Museum during which the museum will also honor Mary Sue Sweeney Price, who recently retired after nearly 40 years with the institution.
“Mary Sue’s legacy,” said Board of Trustees Chair Arlene Lieberman, “is that her distinguished leadership and advocacy helped to define the Newark Museum as a home for great works of art that reflect the creative spirit of many cultures and a powerful source for education and community building. Her stewardship of the museum was a beacon which paved the way for the cultural revival of the city of Newark from which we all now benefit.”
Sweeney’s career at the museum includes twenty years as director and chief executive officer. She will receive the museum’s Medal for Meritorious Service and the Commemorative Medal.
