Authorities are searching for the killer of a 24-year-old city man slain Monday night, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and Newark police said in a statement Tuesday.
Police found Russell Lighten Jr. on the 400 block of S. 17th Street around 9:30 pm. Lighten, who had been shot, was rushed to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:04 pm.
The matter is being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor's Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S.
