Man Killed Monday Identified

A Newark man was shot and killed Monday afternoon in the same neighborhood where five people were struck by gunfire May 2 ,the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Thomas Grant was found around 4 pm on S. 15th Street near Springfield Avenue. He was pronounced dead at UMDNJ about a half-hour later, said Katherine Carter, a prosecutor’s office spokesperson.

Grant’s age was not immediately known, Carter said, but he is believed to be about 30 years old.

No suspects had been identified and the shooting remains under investigation, Caretr also said.
