Man Killed, Woman Wounded in Dec. 31 Shooting

Two people were shot and one was killed Dec. 31, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Police Department said in a statement.

Efrahim Kinchen, 20, was fatally shot Monday afternoon at South and Broad streets. A 33-year-old mother, who authorities said appeared to be a bystander, was wounded and was in stable condition at University Hospital. Her name was not released.
