Mayor and a Giant Brighten Holidays for Homeless Toddlers
Donation made at New Community Harmony House

Christmas came early this year for a group of young children at a Newark transitional living facility Tuesday, when volunteers including Mayor Luis Quintana and a member of the New York Giants dropped off piles of toys for the youngsters.
A charity, Second Chance Toys, along with a private company, 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, delivered the goodies to New Community Harmony House. Steve Weatherford, a veteran NFL player who’s now the Giants punter, handed out dolls, bicycles and other goodies to the kids, most of whom were about three or four years old.
Weatherford volunteers with Second Chance Toys, a charity that refurbishes gently used playthings for donation. 1-800-GOT-JUNK? donated its services, transporting a truckload of toys to the South Orange Avenue facility.

Quintana, a Giants fan, praised Weatherford for “coming off the field to be with us on this occasion.”
Weatherford recounted how, during his youth, his family didn’t have much, while stressing the importance of doing good for others.
