Mayor Cory A. Booker and Department of Child and Family Well-Being Director L’Tanya Williamson announced today that the department’s Medical Care Services clinic at 110 William St. will be closed all day tomorrow, Wednesday, May 23 and will be open on Thursday, May 24, from noon to 4 p.m. to accommodate mandatory staff training on a new paperless record-keeping system. Medical appointments scheduled at the Medical Care Services Clinic for those dates and times have already been rescheduled, and walk-in patients will be triaged as appropriately necessary. All other Child and Family Well-Being programs will continue to operate on normal schedules.
“In every department and agency, we are moving to use 21st-century cutting-edge technology to serve our residents more efficiently and cost-effectively. This training will give our medical care services clinic staff the tools and knowledge they need to maintain patient records more efficiently,” Booker said. “From creating a Non-Emergency Call Center to putting computers in police cars and providing our Department of Child and Family Well-Being with paperless record-keeping, Newark is leading the nation in transforming the way local government services its constituents. I commend our Child and Family Well-Being team on developing this system.”
