Missing Newark Man Found Safe Friday

A city man with a mild developmental disability was found Friday afternoon after going missing two days ago, Det. Eugenio Gonzalez of the Newark Police Department said.

Rui Silva, 27, had last been seen around noon Dec. 4 at Newark Penn Station. Police Thursday put out alerts via social and other media, asking the public for information on his whereabouts.

Those alerts paid off, Gonzalez said. Newark detectives, working off tips from citizens, located Silva in Belleville shortly after noon Friday. He was in good health but was transported to a hospital for evaluation, Gonzalez also said.
