Newark Apartment Building Is Taking Affordable Housing Applications

Applications are being accepted for affordable housing units at a building on Freeman Street. Here's how to apply for the random lottery.

NEWARK, NJ — Affordable housing applications have opened up for another apartment building in Newark, city officials announced this week.

Applications are being accepted for studio, two and three-bedroom apartments at 80 Freeman Street, according to a social media post from the city. The final applicants will be chosen in a random lottery.

“The development contains a total of 34 affordable housing units, where six are studio apartments with net rents ranging from $811 to $1,724, sixteen are two-bedroom apartments with net rents ranging from $1,004 to $2,177, and twelve are three-bedroom apartments with net rents ranging from $1,146 to $2,502.”
