Newark Heroes: She Founded A Nonprofit To Help People In Need

NEWARK, NJ — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

Hero's job: She is the creator/founder of Beauty for Ashes, a nonprofit organization that assist adult men and women who are victims of abuse, addiction, economically disadvantaged and those in danger of or facing homelessness.

Reason for recognition: She is a woman of God, and is selfless, and goes above and behind the call of duty to help recovering addicts, domestic violence victims, prostitutes, HIV and AIDS, gang affiliates, those seeking to return to productive behaviors and activities.

One thing to know: Through outreach and assistance in her community, she helps those seeking to return, thereby helping to rebirth hope, healing and restoring their lives, families and communities by "Encouraging Hearts One Beat at A Time."
