Although its principal focus has been on gun violence, the NAVC has also been a strong voice against police brutality, playing key roles in protesting the recent police killing cases of Jose Quinonez, Darnell McNeil and Amar McLean.
“Yes, our focus is primarily on gun violence stalking our streets,” said NAVC media advocate Zayid Muhammad. “But we are not going to address our youth over their violence and not address the police when they are violent too.”
