Newark Man Sentenced to 19 Years in Prison
Bobby Dawson of Newark was sentenced to 19 years in prison for his role in over a dozens armed robberies.

Dawson, 31, has been connected to 17 armed robberies, almost all of which were committed in 2013. A total of six of the incidents occurred in Newark, the first of which happened in late December of 2013 at Pao Da Terra.
On Wednesday October 8 of this year, Dawson was officially sentenced to 19 years in prison. According to The Alternative Press, Dawson pled guilty to the armed robberies back in November of 2013.
Dawson was also ordered to pay upwards of $72,000 in restitution in addition to three years supervised release upon finishing his sentence.

According to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice, “In 15 of the 17 robberies, Dawson and his conspirators used zip-ties or duct tape to restrain their victims.”
In addition to the Newark robberies, two crimes were committed in Bloomfield, one in Verona, one in Maplewood and one in West Orange. Other targets included municipalities in Union and Bergen Counties.

Of the businesses robbed, Krausers convenience stores in Bloomfield, West Orange and Kearny fell victim, as well as two gas stations and multiple small businesses.
On April 24, 2013 during the Krausers of West Orange robbery, Dawson and a conspirator used zip-ties to restrain three individuals in the store before stealing $600 and cartons of cigarettes.
According to the Verona-Cedar Grove Times, during this incident, “Dawson injured a store employee by hitting the victim in the head with his firearm.”
Similarly on May 20, 2013, in the last of the armed robberies, three men including Dawson stole $400 from the Subway in Verona and tied up the 21-year old employee.
Jamar Darby and Antwon Yarbrough are two other men, who pleaded guilty in connection to the Subway incident, reports the Verona-Cedar Grove Times.
