Newark's Free Concert Series Kicks off this Weekend

The city of Newark’s Neighborhood and Recreational Services Department is hosting a series of free concerts beginning this weekend at parks throughout town.

On Saturday, Aug. 11 at 5 pm David Cedeno and his orchestra perform at Elwood Park in the North Ward. A Tribute to Whitney Houston is planned for Sunday, Aug. 12 at noon in Washington Park, and a “Michael Jackson Third Anniversary Birthday Party” is scheduled for noon on Sunday Aug. 26, also at Washington Park.


All of the artists will perform on the city’s Wenger Wagon stage. Department of Neighborhood and Recreational Services staff members will provide information about Newark services and programs at each concert.
