Newark Teen Found Shot In Vehicle Dies From Injuries

According to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, the investigation remains ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time.

NEWARK, NJ — A teen found shot in a vehicle last week in Newark has died from his injuries. The shooting victim has been identified as 17-year-old Yashawn A. Hansen.

According to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, Newark police responded to Quitman Street in Newark for a report of shots fired last Tuesday.

When officers arrived, they said they discovered Hansen along with another male in a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both were transported to University Hospital.

Hansen died from his injuries on Friday, Nov. 19. He was pronounced dead at 4:07 p.m., authorities said.

According to police, the investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time.
