Newark Woman Punched 76-Year-Old At Bus Stop, Police Say

Police said the victim was waiting at a Long Island bus stop when the woman struck her multiple times with a closed fist.

MANHASSET, NY — A Newark woman is facing charges after authorities said she assaulted a 76-year-old woman at a Long Island bus stop.

According to Nassau County police, the assault happened Wednesday shortly after 1 p.m. at a bus stop located at Northern Boulevard and Maple Street in Manhasset.

Police said the female victim, 76, was seated on a bench waiting for a bus when she was struck multiple times with a closed fist by 40-year-old Dalisa Wormack.

Two bystanders came to the victim’s aid and stopped the attack, police said. The victim suffered injuries to her right leg, hip, elbow and ribs. She also had cuts on her hands.

The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment, police said.

Officers at the scene arrested Wormack and charged her with second-degree assault. She was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
