Newark Woman Found Guilty of Murdering Romantic Rival

Nadiyah Venable was pregnant when she attacked Sha-Ron Moens at her home.

An Essex County jury in Newark Thursday convicted a 23-year-old city woman accused of murdering another woman in a fit of jealousy over a man both had dated, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said.

On May 15, 2010, Nadiyah Venable and a 15-year-old cousin went to the Newark home of Sha-Ron Moens, 29, then threw bleach into Moens’ eyes and stabbed her at least 30 times. The two youngest of Moens’ three children watched their mother die, said Assistant Prosecutor Purva Deshpande.

Venable was angry that Kenny Jones ended their romantic relationship and had returned to Moens. Jones is the father of two of Moens’ children.
