NJ Transit Bus Driver Charged With Vehicular Homicide: Prosecutor
A NJ Transit bus driver was arrested on vehicular homicide charges while she was attempting to board a plane, prosecutors said.

NEWARK – A NJ Transit bus driver was charged Tuesday with vehicular homicide after a 55-year-old man was struck and killed, prosecutors announced. She was arrested as she was attempting to board a plane at Newark Liberty International Airport.
Fayola Howard, 34, of Bloomfield was also charged with leaving the scene of the accident involving an injured person, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.
The incident happened on Dec. 31, 2019 when Howard, while operating an NJ Transit bus, struck Kevin Thomas, 55, of Newark, the ECPO said.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was dragged by the bus and he subsequently died from his injuries on Jan. 6, the ECPO said.
At the time, the bus was traveling southbound on Sanford Avenue approaching Mt. Vernon Place in Newark.
