The Newark Police Memorial Scholarship Fund will host its first charitable golf outing on Monday, June 4 at the Weequahic Golf Course in Newark. The event is expected to draw many dignitaries and representatives from local businesses and organizations.
The Newark Police Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to give back to the community by granting scholarships to Newark residents or Newark Community Organizations in the name of fallen police officers. This year the Newark Police Memorial Scholarship Fund will be awarding one scholarship to a recipient in each of Newark’s five wards.
Golfers will check-in and register between 7:30 and 9 am and will receive a continental breakfast. The shotgun start is scheduled for 9 am. Golfers will enjoy a lunch at midday. After a long day of golf, an awards dinner will follow, with awards for Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin, Most Honest Golfer, Team Low and High Gross.
There is still time to sign up as an individual golfer to enjoy a day of golfing with continental breakfast, lunch and an award dinner for $250. If you are not a golfer but want to come and support the Newark Police Memorial Scholarship Fund, tickets for the dinner are $75.
Anyone interested in signing up for a day of golf or to attend the awards dinner can email Sgt. Ronald Glover at gloverr@ci.newark.nj.us
The scholarship Fund is currently accepting scholarship applications from students. Students can download the application by going to the Newark Police Department website at www.newarkpd.org and click on the Newark Police Memorial Scholarship Fund Application tab. Applications must be returned and post marked by June 18.
