Competition designed to encourage math, science education

Oliver Street School students, along with teacher James Intrabartolo (top left) and Principal Douglas Petty (second right) were presented with an award of a $20,000 Technology Package/Video Kit from electronics firm Samsung's Adam Yates (right) and Bree Falato (top center) this week.   The school was selected as the New Jersey finalist in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) contest out of 2,700 applications nationwide.  The students will utilize the Samsung equipment to create and submit a video to represent the state of New Jersey in the national phase of the contest, where 15 entries are selected and awarded an additional $35,000 technology package.  The winners then “pitch” their video to the judges in Washington D.C. and the finalist will be awarded $140,000.
