Orange Man Shoots Resident on 'Busy Street,' Cops Say
The Newark man suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound, police said.

A 21-year-old Orange man was arrested Saturday night after allegedly shooting a 50-year-old city resident on the 300 block of West Market Street, police said Sunday.
According to a release from Newark Police Director Samuel DeMaio, Malik Onque was detained at the scene of the shooting by security guards stationed nearby. When police arrived on scene shortly after 9:30 p.m. Saturday, they arrested Onque, and recovered a 9mm Berreta gun, DeMaio said in the release.
Onque was transported to the Major Crimes Unit and charges are pending, cops said.

The 50-year-old man suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound, police said. He was transported to University Hospital for treatment.
"I commen[d] all the officers involved that apprehended a suspect that disregarded human life by shooting a gun on a busy street,” DeMaio said in the release.

Police are not immediately releasing any other details about the shooting.
