Parents Fighting School Closure

 On Patch this week, we’ll be writing about parents fighting to keep a small local grade school open after it has been slated for closure by the Newark Public School district. The proposed closure comes a year after Superintendent Cami Anderson, in a controversial move, called for the closure of seven district schools due to a combination of underperformance and low enrollment.

Also this week we’ll meet a local artist whose work has been on display at Vonda’s Kitchen, an eatery that also serves as an exhibition space for painters and sculptors.

On Wednesday, Essex County College will hold its 44th annual commencement ceremony at the Prudential Center. Among the nearly 1,500 graduates is a 53-year-old disabled military veteran.
