The two-hour tours launch from Riverfront Park. Tickets are $5 and reservations must be made in advance. To reserve a space, call 973-733-3917 or send an email here.
Rides will launch Saturday, Aug. 25 at 9 am and 11am; on Saturday, Sept.1 at noon; on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 9 am and 11 am; and on Sunday, Sept 30 at noon and 2 pm.
“Our city exists because of its river, and 2012 is the year that Newark returns to the water,” said Mayor Cory Booker.
The riverboat tours travel over seven miles along Newark’s riverfront. Damon Rich, the city’s chief urban designer and waterfront planner, discusses the riverfront’s past, present, and future with passengers, focusing on how Newarkers are working to make the riverfront a vital part of their city. The tour highlights the riverfront’s natural beauty, industry, parks and soaring infrastructure like the Pulaski Skyway and the “Little Orphan Annie” Bridge.
