PHOTOS: ‘24 Hours Of Peace’ Returns To Newark With Music, Unity, Love

NEWARK, NJ — Peace. Love. Unity. These were the themes of the day at Newark’s annual “24 Hours Of Peace” event, which returned to the city last weekend.
The annual event uses the power of music to uplift nonviolence and conflict resolution. It includes performances from national and local headliners.
This year’s celebration took place from 6 p.m. on Sept. 5 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 6 at South 10th Street and Central Avenue. The event was free and open to the public.

The lineup of scheduled performers included Kool G Rap, Jacquees, RL, Case, DaBaby Jadakiss, Scarlip, 41, DJ Lil Man, and DJ Taj and Friends.

The event kicked off with a pouring of libations and presentation of the Black Liberation Flag with local history teacher Bashir Muhammad Ptah Akinyele, Sharif Amenhotep, a co-founder of the Newark Anti-Violence Coalition, and OB Baraka on African drums.
The event also featured hometown spoken word poets, performing ensembles and DJs as part of its star-studded lineup.
