P.O.P Marks Founding Anniversary of the Black Panther Party with Teach-In
Newark's Zayid Muhammad will conduct a teach-in on the People History of the Black Panther Party on October 16. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

On Thursday October 16, Zayid Muhammad, a highly respected cub of the New York chapter of the Black Panther Party and recently retired national minister of culture for the New Black Panther Party, will conduct a teach-in entitled, “People’s History of the Black Panther Party” at the People’s Organization for Progress general assembly meeting.
The meeting will take place at the Abyssinian Baptist Church, located at 224 West Kinney Street, Newark. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Muhammad, perhaps best known for his longtime mobilizing efforts in support of Black Panthers who are in prison because of their status as FBI COINTELPRO targets, will conduct a teach-in to mark the anniversary of the founding of the Black Panther Party.

In the past, Muhammad has worked closely with New York Panthers and former political prisoners Dhoruba Bin Wahad and the late Safiya Bukhari Alston.
The Black Panther Party was founded on October 15, 1966 by the late Huey P. Newton and others in Oakland, California.
