Radar Issue Delaying Flights At Newark Airport: FAA

Flights from the Midwest and South destined for Newark have not been permitted to take off, and departing flights are delayed, the FAA said.

NEWARK, NJ — An issue with radar has led authorities to slow flight traffic at Newark Liberty International Airport on Monday afternoon, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

In addition, a ground stop has been issued at Teterboro Airport because of the radar issue at Newark, the FAA said.

Departures to and from Newark are delayed amid efforts to repair the radar issue, the FAA said on its website. Flights departing from Newark were delayed at least 30 minutes, according to the FAA website.

Departures to Newark from the Midwest and south except Miami are grounded, with flights from the west still permitted to take off, according to the FAA website.

At Teterboro, flight departures are delayed at least 75 minutes, the FAA said.

The cause of the radar issue was not immediately known.
