Several Downtown Streets Closed Friday for Parade

Newark's annual St. Patrick's march kicks off 1 pm

Several streets will be closed Friday, March 15, for the city’s 78th annual St. Patrick’s Day parade, city officials said. The parade steps off at 1 pm at Mulberry and Lafayette streets. 

Mulberry Street between Center Street and Chestnut Street will be closed between 10 am and approximately 3 pm. From noon to 4 pm, the following streets will also be closed: Center between McCarter and Broad; Central Avenue between Broad and Washington; Washington between Raymond and Broad; and Washington Place between Broad and Washington streets .

The parade begins in front of the Prudential Center and proceeds north up Mulberry Street, pass a reviewing stand in front of 100 Mulberry St., and continuing along Mulberry to Center Street. The parade will then pass the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, where another reviewing stand will be located. It will then proceed across Broad Street, and up Central Avenue to Washington Street and St. Patrick’s Pro-Cathedral, where another reviewing stand will be located. The parade will then turn north up Washington Street and terminate in Washington Park.
