Sheila E,. of 'Glamorous Life' Fame, Performing Free at NJPAC

Sheila E., the percussionist, singer and songwriter who was a member of Prince’s band in its 1980s heyday, graces the stage at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center Thursday, Aug. 1, for the center’s ongoing “Sounds of the City” free outdoor concert series. The concert kicks off at 5 pm, followed by a street party.

Then check out Lunchtime Jazz in the Garden at the Newark Museum’s Alice Ransom Dreyfuss Memorial Gardens, 49 Washington St. On Thursday, the featured performer is Claire Daly, an acclaimed jazz saxophonist, vocalist and flautist The concert will be held from 12:15 to 1:45 pm; admission is $3 (free for children and museum members).
