Smile! Ridge Street Students Win Poster Contest

Horizon NJ Health recently visited the Ridge Street School to announce the winners of their “Give Kids a Smile” dental awareness poster contest. The poster contest was open to all second grade students who attended the Feb. 1 dental awareness program presented by Horizon NJ Health.

“The contest is an effective way for students to focus on the importance of good oral health and tooth decay prevention in a fun and expressive manner,” said Philip M. Bonaparte, M.D., Vice President, Clinical Affairs/Chief Medical Officer, Horizon NJ Health.

“Our team of health educators visited the Ridge Street School at the beginning of February to educate the students on the importance of good dental hygiene habits, such as brushing, flossing, regular dental visits and proper nutrition. It’s our intention and hope that our classroom education programs will help engage students and their parents/guardians to take a more active role in their dental care,” Bonaparte also said.

February was National Children’s Dental Health Month and is anchored by the American Dental Association’s Give Kids A Smile program.
