Street Cleaning Suspended Wednesday
Alternate-side parking also suspended as city vehicles used to remove snow

Street cleaning and alternate side of the street parking requirements will be suspended Wednesday due to continuing low temperatures and lingering snow from last week’s storm, city officials announced Tuesday.
The city normally sweeps its streets on weekdays, with the exception of Fridays. Motorists who park their cars on streets that would normally be swept on Wednesday, Jan. 29, will not be ticketed by the Newark Parking Authority for doing so. Many municipal vehicles that would ordinarily sweep streets are instead removing snow.
“The city of Newark is recovering from heavy snowfall and still facing frigid temperatures and the possibility of more snow. To enable snow to be removed, we are suspending street-sweeping and not ticketing motorists who park in areas that would normally be swept,” Mayor Luis Quintana said. “However, we still face additional snow accumulations and I urge everyone to abide by our ordinances. When you shovel snow, please keep it out of the street, for the safety of motorists and emergency vehicles. When driving, take your time and drive safely.”
