The Week Ahead in Newark

Lawyers sending Newark kids to camp, an African-American pioneer stops by NJIT and a major religious observance begins

Tomorrow, Tuesday, lawyers from throughout Essex County trade in their briefcases for softball bats in the name of a worthy cause. The officers of the court will be taking part in the Battle of the Barristers, a softball tournament being held at Brookdale Park in Bloomfield and Jackals Stadium at Montclair State University. Funds raised through the event benefit the Greater Newark Fresh Air Fund. Last year’s B of the B raised enough to send more than 400 youth to camp.
