Three Arrested on Weapons Charges
Guns recovered during weekend patrols by Newark police gang unit

The Newark Police Department arrested three people on weapons charges over the weekend, including one man who was reportedly in possession of hollow-point bullets.
Around 1 am March 9, detectives with the gang enforcement and alcoholic beverage control units entered the Boardwalk Saloon, 206 Bloomfield Ave., for an inspection and spotted a man behaving strangely. David Pascual, 26, of Newark reportedly attempted to hide something in his waistband as he approached the restroom. Police arrested Pascual after stopping him and finding a .45-caliber gun.
Also on March 9, at 9 pm, gang detectives received a tip regarding suspicious males on Wilnora Holeman Way. When officers approached, city resident Raewon King, 18, reportedly ran, discarding a .38-caliber handgun as he fled. King was quickly caught and charged with resisting arrest, possession of hollow-point bullets and unlawful possession of a weapon.
On March 10 at approximately 8 pm, detectives reportedly observed 19 year-old Kendal Jones of Newark standing outside the entrance of the Medina Meat Market, 375 Avon Ave. As the officers approached Jones immediately began to walk away hurriedly, tossing a .22-caliber revolver into a parked car.Jones was charged with illegal possession of a weapon.
"Our gang enforcement unit continues to do an excellent job at recovering firearms and arresting some of city's most dangerous and habitual criminals," Police Director Samuel DeMaio said.
