'Toys for Tots' Party is Saturday

Gifts, pictures with Santa and more planned at annual event.

Mayor Luis Quintana and other city hall officials, along with the heads of the police and fire departments, are hosting the “Toys for Tots Holiday Festival” Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm at the John F. Kennedy Recreation Center, 211 W. Kinney St.


The event is for children aged six months to 12 years.

Families interested in attending the festival must pre-register for the free event. Families who registered were assigned times for their festival session at the Kennedy Center. There will be four sessions:

·         10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

·         11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

·         1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

·         2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

 

The festival will offer kids free photos with Santa Claus, toys and gifts, holiday music, and refreshments. The Newark Police Department’s Division of Community Relations coordinated the collection of toys for the festival, and all police precincts participated in the drive.

The festival is sponsored by the Division of Recreation and Cultural Affairs, the Newark Police Department, the Police Athletic League, and the Newark Fire Department.
