Downed Wires Halt Train in Newark for Hours
About 1,000 people were stranded Tuesday night within sight of Penn Station.

About 1,000 passengers aboard a NJ Transit train were stranded for two hours just outside Penn Station after overhead wires fell on top of the train’s cars, News 12 reported.
The train was stopped around 6 pm Tuesday, leading to delays of up to 45 minutes elsewhere on the Northeast Corridor line. Passengers were forced to remain aboard the train while workers removed the wires.
The passengers were placed on other trains after their train was brought the last few hundred feet to the station. There were no reported injuries, News 12 also said.
