Trio of Newark Men Arrested for Jewelry Store Robbery
Suspects had guns, wore masks, State Police said
Three city men were arrested by New Jersey State Police following the armed robbery of an Orange jewelry store, the State Police said in a statement.
Three men wearing stockings over their faces and armed with two handguns entered Golden Palace Jewelry shortly before 7 pm Monday. The men were seen fleeing the store in an older-model Ford pickup truck.
Alerted via radio by the Orange Police Department, troopers in the Metro North Unit spotted the vehicle and conducted a “high risk” motor-vehicle stop at South Orange and Speedway avenues in Newark. The men -- David A. Williams, 48; Antonio Moore, 44; and Charles Madison, 41 -- were arrested without incident. Troopers also reportedly recovered two handguns, the stockings and jewelry.
A State Police spokesman Tuesday did not know precisely what jewelry had been recovered.
The men were charged with receiving stolen property as well as various weapons offenses and handed over to the custody of Orange police.
