Vo-Tech Students Earn Scholarships

Students attending WPU, Rutgers this fall

Two Newark residents who graduated from the Essex County Vocational Technical School District received scholarships from the New Jersey Association of Counties Foundation.

The scholarships, presented by Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo, were awarded to Darius Stultz and Anaiise Diaz, who both graduated from the N. 13th Street campus.

“Our Essex County Vocational Technical Schools offer an array of cutting edge academic programs that provide our students with a solid foundation and prepares them for higher education or the workforce. Darius and Anaiise each have very impressive high school resumes and are examples of the high caliber of students enrolled in our school district,” DiVincenzo said.
 
Stultz was ranked 10th in his class with a 3.68 grade point average and will attend William Paterson University, where he will study criminal justice.

“I just want to say thank you for awarding me this scholarship and providing the support to help me take the next step in my studies,” Stultz said.
 
Diaz was ranked third in her class with a grade point average of 3.86 and will attend Rutgers University in New Brunswick, also majoring in criminal justice.

“Receiving this scholarship is a great honor. I want to thank the school district and my family for supporting me,” Diaz said.
 
Investors Bank provided the funding to the NJAC Foundation to support this year’s scholarship program. Essex County is a member of NJAC, which is an advocacy organization representing counties in New Jersey. The NJAC Foundation is a non-profit organization affiliated with NJAC that is committed to providing educational opportunities for county vocational school and county college students.
