Wanted Fugitives Arrested In Newark; Charges Include Assault, Robbery

Newark police arrested several people accused of violent crimes during their latest wanted fugitive sweep.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark police arrested several people accused of violent crimes during their latest wanted fugitive sweep, which took place in December, authorities reported Wednesday.

“This ongoing fugitive operation contributed to last year’s 19 percent reduction in violent crime,” Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. said.

“The work of the Newark Police Intelligence Division/Fugitive Section in regularly investigating the whereabouts of these suspects, safely apprehending them, and recovering illegal firearms continues to keep Newark’s neighborhoods safe,” Miranda said.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, recent arrests have included:

  • Wally S. Magwood, 45, of Newark, was arrested on December 1, 2025. He was wanted on charges of robbery and aggravated assault.
  • Henry L. Cheatham, 35, of Newark, was arrested on December 2, 2025. Police were seeking him on outstanding charges of terroristic threats, unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and aggravated assault.
  • Ibn Robinson, 30, of Newark, was arrested on December 2, 2025. He was being sought for two counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), two counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal restraint, and terroristic threats.
  • Shadon J. Willis, 24, of Hillside, was arrested on December 2, 2025, after he was wanted for outstanding charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
  • Corey Winston, 50, of Perth Amboy, was arrested on December 4, 2025. He was wanted on charges of aggravated assault, terroristic threats, unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
  • Zahyir Beard Brown, 18, of Newark, was arrested on December 4, 2025. He had been sought on charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
  • Darren L. Parker, 30, of Newark, was arrested on December 4, 2025. He was wanted on charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
  • Jacque L. Cook, 25, of Union, was arrested on December 19, 2025. He was being sought for charges of aggravated assault, four counts of resisting arrest, criminal mischief, possession of a weapon (vehicle), leaving the scene of an accident, unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), possession of prohibited weapons (high-capacity magazine, hollow point ammunition, and defaced firearm), and distribution of CDS.
  • Kelvin Vega, 33, of Elizabeth, was arrested on December 9, 2025. He was wanted on charges of aggravated assault, two counts of terroristic threats, unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
  • Tashim Hardy, 22, of East Orange, was arrested on December 10, 2025. He was being sought on charges of robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon (rifle), and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
  • Shanell Stevenson, 41, of Newark, was arrested on December 15, 2025. She was wanted on two counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, criminal mischief, conspiracy, use of a minor to commit a crime, and certain persons prohibited from weapon possession.
  • Terry Orr, 56, of Newark, was arrested on December 15, 2025. He faces two counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, criminal mischief, and certain persons prohibited from weapon possession.
  • Denise R. Gordon, 65, of East Orange, was arrested on December 16, 2025. He was wanted on charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
  • Khalee Muhammad, 53, of Newark, was arrested on December 18, 2025. He faces two counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, criminal mischief, and certain persons prohibited from weapon possession.
  • Alsalik S. Leverson, 23, of Irvington, was arrested on December 29, 2025. He was being sought on a robbery charge and for a previous outstanding warrant in Newark.
  • Quinton R. Whitlock, 21, of Newark, was arrested on December 30, 2025. He was wanted on charges of robbery, two counts of conspiracy, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
