Dead Woman Found Tuesday Identified

UPDATE June 21: Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Police Director Samuel DeMaio announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the murder of Regina Baker, 29, of Jersey City.

Baker was reported missing to Jersey City police several days ago and her body was found in Newark June 19 in an abandoned home in the 400 block of 15th Street. The autopsy results indicate the cause of death was multiple gun shot wounds, the prosecutor's office said in a statement

Authorities are trying to determine the identity of a woman found dead early today, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and Newark police announced.

The body was discovered in the 400 block of South 15th Street.

The cause of death has not yet been determined. Reports that the deceased was a Jersey City woman reported missing could not immediately be confirmed, the prosecutor’s office also said.
