Woman May Have Been Killed by Train, Authorities Say

Body of Passaic resident found near light-rail tacks Monday.

Authorities Tuesday released the name of a woman found dead along the city’s light rail line the day before.

Anna Ithier, 53, of Passaic, was found by NJ Transit police around 8:20 am between the Park Avenue stop and Bloomfield Station. She had sustained blunt force trauma, said Katherine Carter, a spokeswoman for the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

The circumstances of her death have yet to be determined but a preliminary investigation reveals that Ithier may have been hit by a train, Carter also said.

The death is being investigated by Newark police and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office. Anyone with information is being asked to call 1-877-847-7432.
