Two New Brunswick Organizations Benefit from Horizon Foundation Grants

The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey has announced that two New Brunswick organizations have received grants to supplement their arts and health programs.

The Friends’ Health Connection (FHC) received a $15,000 grant to support a series of community education programs on heart disease.

According to a release from the Horizon Foundation, "STEPS UP: A Series to Teach Effective Prevention Skills among Underserved Populations" will target low-income and minority populations in Middlesex, Monmouth and Somerset counties with information on how to reduce the risk of heart disease.

The programs will be presented bilingually at 10 churches in the three counties, the release said.

The State Theatre also received a $15,000 grant to support its "Artist-in-Residence" program.

A total of $396,000 in grants was awarded to 23 organizations throughout New Jersey, according to the release.
