Berkeley Heights Man Hospitalized Following Olde Queens Fight

A bar patron was badly injured in the wee hours of Sunday morning at Olde Queens Tavern.

A 25-year-old Berkeley Heights man was hospitalized following a Sunday morning altercation at Olde Queens Tavern on Easton Avenue.

According to a press release from the New Brunswick Police Department, around 12:50 a.m. Sunday, "two disorderly patrons became agitated and aggressive when they were asked to leave by tavern employees."

A "confrontation" broke out between the two and bar employees and one of the patrons, Michael Mattingly, 25, of Berkeley Heights, a Rutgers University graduate, was severely injured and taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, according to police.

Police did not say Sunday if charges were filed against any patrons or bar staff.

Police continue to investigate and ask anyone with information about the fight to call the New Brunswick Police Detective Bureau at (732) 745-5217 or the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-3300.
